XX-XXI CenturyJobs - Bridge the Gap

On 25 September 2014 a group of 50 students from Secondary School No. 2 in Krosno supervised by 2 teachers took part in the event in the Subcarpathian Museum in Krosno entitled “An Open Day”. The students visited the museum, paying special attention to the permanent exhibitions ”The history of lighting” and “Glass of Subcarpathian glassworks” whose themes closely correspond to the topics the project “XX- XXI century jobs- Bridge the gap” deals with.

The students also observed the presentations of old crafts and traditional, regional jobs including: a wood carver, a basket weaver, a shingles maker, a spinner, a bobbinlace maker, a tissue paper flower maker prepared by the association “Beskid Zielony” the Local Touristic Organisation from Gorlice. They interviewed the people who presented the jobs, tried to practise some of the jobs, took photos and made films.

In October and November the students from the project group made the English translations of the information about the jobs they had observed during the presentations, made a PowerPoint presentation, prepared the transcripts of the interviews. In January they translated the interviews into English and montaged a film about these disappearing jobs.

Here you can watch the film and see the presentation that the students have made.
